Cloud-based workflow management software provider XCM Solutions has hired former Fuoco Group director of operations Joe Manzelli Jr. as its new coordinator of outsourced workflow.

Joe Manzelli

In his new role, Manzelli will essentially be an advocate and consultant for new and existing clients of the workflow automation product, as well as for outsourced client accounting services offered by XCM affiliate Xpitax.

Manzelli became familiar with both Xpitax and XCM while at Fuoco Group, who initially utilized the outsourced tax service and eventually the workflow product for “practically everything we did,” he said.

“My new role is primarily going to be working with existing and new outsourced client accounting services, helping them to streamline their processes, reduce the time needed to serve their accounting clients and help them define their workflows,” said Manzelli. “At Fuoco we had checked them out and decided to test the waters of outsourcing tax returns and that worked with Xpitax, but what happened over time was using the XCM product made firm more efficient and I can’t say enough good things about it.”

Manzelli also noted that while at Fuoco he had been looking into ways to become an advocate or consultant on the XCM product, primarily as a possible revenue stream for the CPA firm. Eventually he was approached by XCM president Glen Keenan about working out a new role at the company.

“I would drop their name a lot during presentations and I had explored the idea of consulting for them, but they found someone else for that particular job. We eventually worked out how we could do something together,” said Manzelli. “The timing was there. XCM has been a true partner of Fuoco as well and I am still helping the firm with things they need on the XCM side and look forward to doing so in the future.”

XCM has been moving towards offering more consulting services as part of its offering and Manzelli fit a role that, although created for him, was part of the company's overall direction as well according to Keenan.

"Joe's been a great client for many years and a thought leader as well from technology to outsourcing, he has the passion we look for and when we had the opportunity to bring him on board we were very excited. We found the right situation for him," said Keenan. "We have been bringing a consulting element to what we do, we’re not a pure software provider anymore and we want to help clients be successful. Having people with hands-on experience is very important, it’s not always what you see on paper. Getting firms to use technology properly does take a certain level of consulting and he’s going to help do that."
