Remote desktop apps are increasingly popular among practitioners and the Jump Desktop for Apple and Android devices is on the rise as it, quite simply, lets you control your computer in a variety of ways from your mobile device.

Jump Desktop

Compatible with both RDP (remote display protocol) and VNC (virtual network computing), users say Jump Desktop is easy to set up and with no need to download additional software to connect to your machine if you already have RDP or VNC configured; just enter your IP address or hostname to connect.
The app supports multitasking with the ability to switch between apps without disconnecting;
HDMI/VGA support to view your desktop on the big screen; advanced Bluetooth keyboard support; built-in SSH tunneling for RDP and VNC connections; supports large custom screen resolution; full mouse and multiple gesture support, which includes the ability to draw or write using your finger; the ability to transfer text to or from your computer using the pasteboard; support for 8, 16 and 24-bit colors and all RDP performance options; the abilty to print directly to a Wi-Fi printer using RDP’s printer redirection feature; multiple monitor support (for Windows users on version 7 and above); Apple product users have OS X screen sharing support and copyrect, zrle, tight, (zlib) hextile, zlib, rre, raw, desktop-resize support.

It should be noted that audio streaming, remote printing and Windows 8 touch redirection are not supported when connecting to Mac OS X and PCs running Windows ‘Home’ edition.

The latest version of Jump Desktop is available in the iTunes Store for $14.99 and $9.43 on Google Play. There’s also a free version from the developer.
