App of the Week: Car Locator

There's an episode of HBO's great new technology satire Silicon Valley that includes a stockboy pitching an app that helps you locate your car -- pretty much by giving you a place to write down the location. So when we saw the Car Locator app, we had to laugh -- until we actually looked at it. Then we realized it made a lot of sense.

Basically, it memorizes your car's location, and then uses GPS to guide you back to it. It lets you use a big arrow, or a map, or a neat-looking radar screen. Better still, it's got a parking timer, so you know how long you've been separated from your car, and (our favorite feature) you can beam current or saved locations to e-mail or to another phone, so everyone will be able to meet up at the car afterward.

It's currently available for Android devices.
