SWK Sells POS Tools to Point Solutions

IT consulting firm SWK Technologies Inc. has sold its HighTower Point of Sale solution suite to software developer Point Solutions LLC.

Point Solutions will continue to develop the HighTower POS solutions, which include Point of Sale and Point of Sale Professional, or P2, and all customer and relationships will be transferred to them. As part of the transition, SWK will continue to provide support for 2014.

The sale marks an expansion of the strategic partnership between the two companies. Last year, Point Solutions transitioned its Sage 500 practice to SWK.

“Our ongoing and expanding relationship with Mike Gill and the team at Point Solutions has been of great value to our collective customers,” said SWK CEO Jeffrey Roth in a statement. “This current transaction allows both SWK and Point to better focus on our respective customer bases and deliver even higher-quality experiences to our end users.”

“The success of the relationship with SWK is built upon each company focusing on what we do best,” said Point Solutions CEO Mike Gill, in a statement. “For SWK, that means selling and implementing enterprise-level solutions. At Point, we are wholly focused on providing solutions for the retail and distribution markets. The acquisition of the HighTower suite is a strong addition to our product portfolio and is perfectly in line with our core mission.”

SWK had originally acquired the POS suite in June 2012, when it merged in Sage reseller HighTower Inc.
