The Tech Take: We Want You for VAR 100

IMGCAP(1)]It’s that time of year again...we are accepting submissions for Accounting Today’s prestigious VAR 100 list, which ranks the top value-added resellers of accounting and accounting-related software by revenue.

If you are interested in participating, please contact me at danielle.lee@sourcemedia.com for full details and submission requirements. All submissions are due by May 23, as the 2014 VAR 100 will appear in our July issue (last year's list is available here).

This year, we are also asking a few poll questions to get a feel for the current state of the industry. Not only will it round out our special VAR100 coverage and provide some interesting benchmarks, it will help me get to know some of the big VAR trends and best practices as I move forward in covering this exciting industry. And if you’d prefer to chat instead of type your thoughts, please let me know and we can set up a short call!

One of our poll questions is whether the “VAR” descriptor has survived the evolution the industry has made into providing more holistic solutions. Does your company still prefer to be classified as a VAR, or has that become obsolete? What classification do you prefer?

You can answer that and a few other questions as part of the VAR100 submissions process. I’ve included them for your reference below:

  • Does your company currently have a clear strategic plan?
  • Currently, what do you consider your company’s largest obstacle?
  • Does the “VAR” classification continue to adequately describe your business?
  • If you don’t define yourself as a VAR, what descriptor do you prefer?

I look forward to hearing from the VAR community on these topics and receiving your company information for consideration in 2014’s VAR 100!
