Intuit Execs Offer Online Tax Prep

A group of former Intuit employees, has launched Taxnet.com, which provides Internet-based filing of income taxes along with electronic filing.The Oceanside, Calif.-based company is headed by Tom Allanson, former senior vice president and general manager of Intuit's consumer tax group. TaxNet, founded a year ago, offers free filing of federal 1040 forms, but is charging for both state tax preparation and efiling. "We spent an awful lot of time working on things that annoy users," says president and CEO Allanson.
