TURNINGPOINT 4.0 TurningPoint Version 4.0 has expanded reporting capabilities and enhanced invoicing and order-entry benefits.

Reporting has been improved in the accounts receivable, order entry, and inventory modules. New cost-of-goods sold tracking has been added to the Sales Category set-up. Reports include commission, aged receivables, pick tickets, packing slips, and inventory stock status reports. A new salesperson selection range enables individual salespeople to produce personalized sales order reports.

Sage Timberline Office Estimating now interfaces with MAS 90/200, permitting its users to create construction project budgets.

Data can be transferred from the MAS job cost module directly to Timberline Office Estimating. Users can send their Timberline Office estimates directly to their Job Cost modules. From there, project budgets can be pushed to and from modules that include accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchase order, timecard, and the payroll general ledger. Jobs, cost codes, and cost types automatically synchronize between the two systems.

CCH CertiTex, a Web-based sales-and-use-tax suite, links to Great Plains, Axapta, and Solomon, while a software development kit makes possible integration with other accounting software pages.

A Web-based sales-and-use-tax calculator combines software with a database of sales taxability rules and rates. The suite includes CertiShip, an address verification module; and CertiCalc, a sales tax calculation engine that plugs into the user's accounting system. Version 4.05 SP1 of JobOps, a job-shop tracking suite, has five new Crystal Reports, 20 enhancements, and 200 program corrections.

The program, designed for small manufacturers, manages project-based and service-repair company operations, workflow, and job-costing projects. Its modules, which interface with Sage Software's MAS 90/200, include Job Shop Quoting, Estimating and Configuring Orders, and Scheduling. The new Data Browser in Alere Version 4.1, which provides access to accounting data, remains displayed on the screen while the user drags and drops records.

The browser can also directly access all related information for an item, regardless of where the information is located in the application. Advanced searches can be performed, using any combination of multiple criteria, including searching within strings of text. Advanced/Easy Budget combines a stand-alone internal budgeting package with integrated Excel functionality.

SureChoice, a Web-based turnkey payroll system, gives accountants the option of referring clients to SurePayroll for payroll services, or offering their own private-label payroll service.

Small businesses can enter payroll data via the Web. If clients do not have Internet access, they can phone or fax in their payroll and the accountant can enter it online. SureChoice performs all calculations automatically, and also automatically makes all required tax deposits. Clients' employees can access payroll stubs online, while the system lets businesses print checks directly. Direct deposit services are also available.

Version 7.0 of Journyx Timesheet sports a redesigned user interface that provides cascading tab navigation with branding and color-scheme options.

The interface also has a customizable toolbar that incorporates an interactive calendar and timesheet status data. There are scrolling and single-day views for "wide" timesheets that cover long periods. The system automates leave request approval and offers more audit-tracking options for changes to approved timesheets. There is also support for international character entry. Many reports are consolidated under the main Reports tab, while improved search, select, and assign capabilities are available for many settings.

The software offers comprehensive analysis, including text, graphs, and ratio analysis before distilling it down into a six-to-eight-page report. The package computes metrics such as operating margins. It also details measurements unique to the nonprofit area, such as program and fundraising efficiencies.
