Microsoft Launches Accountant Program Microsoft has established the Microsoft Professional Accountants Network to support its upcoming launch of Small Business Accounting.

The program has many features similar to accountant networks from other vendors. However, it provides a free level of membership, notes Bob Lewis, senior marketing manager for accounting professionals. Participants can receive training and access to a dedicated Web site. For $299 a year, accountants can receive Action Pak, a set of Microsoft applications.
Tectura Gets $10M
Tectura, a rapidly growing reseller and systems integrator, has received $10 million in equity funding from Ritchie Capital Management to help fuel its growth worldwide.
The new round of funding brings the total announced by Tectura to $62 million. CEO Terry Petrzelka has indicated that he is looking for another $5 million to $15 million over the next two years.
Trey Revenue Grows
Trey Industries reported revenue of just over $1 million for the first quarter ended March. That total represents the operations of Sage reseller SWK Technologies of Livingston, N.J. Trey had no revenue in last year's corresponding period.
Trey's losses dropped to $518,288, down from $955,525 a year earlier. The company reported that SWK had a 7.1 percent operating margin in the most recent quarter in spite of aggressive spending on infrastructure and staffing.
Net@Work Buys AECC
Net@Work, a New York City Sage reseller, has purchased a crosstown company, American European Consulting Co., to make Net@Work the nation's largest pure Sage VAR.
The acquisition pushes Net@Work to a run rate of more than $10 million annually. AECC was founded and owned by Sandy Needham, who has joined the parent company.
SAP Hones PartnerEdge
SAP has refined its channel program for its Business One software rolling out the SAP PartnerEdge Channel Partner Program.
Resellers accumulate points that determine whether they are at the associate, silver, or gold levels. The program is open to resellers and independent software vendors.
Newhouse Heads S.C. Committee
Ken Newhouse, a systems consultant at Baker Consulting, has been named chairman of the Information Technology Committee of the South Carolina Association of CPAs.
Before joining Baker Consulting, he was a principal at Newhouse & Associates. A CPA, he has a bachelor's degree in business administration and has worked with regional accounting firms.
Templeton Names Technology VP
Templeton & Co., a West Palm Beach, Fla.-based CPA firm, has named Tom Patterson as vice president of technology solutions. He is responsible for leading the technology consulting practice.
Patterson was most recently a regional vice president for Tectura. Before that, he founded and owned the Toback Technology Group in Phoenix.
FRx Sets Up Advisor Program
FRx has established a program through which accounting firms and resellers can receive a commission on leads that result in sales of FRx and Microsoft Forecaster.
Under the Analytics Solution Advisor program, participants can get a fee equal to 15 percent of the sale for leads that are closed.
Advisors can receive free sales and marketing literature via a Web portal. There are no fees required.
ClientsFirst Adding BI
ClientsFirst, a Morganville, N.J.-based Microsoft reseller, is establishing a business intelligence practice.
The business will be built around products such as Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and Sharepointe Portal Server, says Mark Chinsky, chief technology officer. "We find that most mid-market businesses generate way too much paper that does not get looked at and does not provide a lot of insightful information to executive decision makers," says Chinsky.
CPAEasy Goes Unlimited
Bisk CPEasy has introduced CPEasy OnDemand, which offers unlimited continuing professional education courses online.
The unit, a division of Bisk Education, says the offer provides access to hundreds of courses, including a new New York ethics course.
