Federal Tax Handbook

NetSuite's SuiteFlex

SuiteFlex, an application development platform, lets third parties create vertical applications within NetSuite and customize business processes for end-users.

Core technologies include SuiteScript, a JavaScript-based programming language for building the new functional processes and applications and SuiteTalk, which uses Web Services APIs to extend NetSuite to other systems and third-party applications or build add-on capabilities. It allows for using any language or platform that supports the SOAP standard, including Java and Microsoft.Net. Also incorporates is SuiteBundler, which provides point-and-click tools for personalization, configuration, and verticalization.

Morningstar's Retirement Income Strategist combines Ibbotson Associates' Wealth Forecasting Engine with Morningstar's investment research and technology.

The Web-based planning tool creates analyses and plans detailing longevity risks for clients who are nearing or in retirement. It illustrates how long an investor's money will last given different investment combinations. It accounts for Social Security, taxes, inflation, pensions, required minimum distributions, income annuities, retirement stages, and other financial goals.

Verbal Expense Tracking System

Virtual Management offers a service that allows users to call in and log tax-deductible expenses immediately following the charges.

The system by the voice-based services provider's Electronic Virtual Assistant asks users to call their "assistant" on a toll-free number and leave expense details on a voicemail. The information is then logged into a report for later use.

IPLocks

Version 6.0 of Database Security and Compliance adds pre-packaged SOX compliance report templates and a custom report engine to consolidate and extract information.

MISys for QuickBooks

Manufacturing Information Systems Small Business Manufacturing v. 1.5, designed for make-to-stock and make-to-order manufacturers, now connects directly to QuickBooks Items and Sales Orders.

The software can convert sales orders into work orders. Once products are manufactured, they are transferred immediately into the Items inventory. Items also can be transferred between the raw material and WIP inventory controlled by MISys SBM with the finished goods inventory controlled by QuickBooks.

Xcelerator for Excel

Xcelerator for Excel reduces the time required to format new field sets and it can automatically reformat sets in as little as 30 seconds.

Version 4.1 lets users mix multiple subtotal times at each subtotal level, hide and unhide all non-breaking, non-subtotaled, and non-dragged items in one click, and clear duplicate or recurring values in any column. The product also can convert dates to either year/month or year/quarter format on either a calendar or a fiscal-year basis.

The Advanced Lookup Engine in PFW ERP 5.5, a financial and process manufacturing application, organizes data views at the user level. Customized views can be saved for quick retrieval or set as defaults.

A delete credential limits the ability to remove financial data and process manufacturing formulas for greater security. Accounts Receivable Write-off automates the task of clearing nominal, unpaid invoice amounts, while the Batch Edit Report tool provides user-configured validation checks for formulas, finished goods, and raw materials.

Visual CE 10

Syware's latest release of its mobile database development tool adds centralized device control under Manage CE, which lets an administrator configure remote devices from a central site.

This allows new or updated applications and other files to be distributed to remote users and lets the administrator purge files from the device if it is lost or stolen. Visual CE 10 includes a macro editor to guide users through the process of creating well-structured, well-documented macros, which can now be located behind the scenes yet still viewed, called, and edited.

First Research Industry Profiles

First Research has incorporated benchmarking ratios from Fintel, whose data is derived from more than 900,000 privately held firms and more than 900 industries, into its industry profiles.

First Research will incorporate a portion of Fintel's Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Financial Ratios into its roughly 200 industry profiles. Sales professionals can use the information to better understand the business conditions, opportunities, and risks of each client and prospect.
