NADELLA SHIFTED Satya Nadella, who was slated to take over Microsoft's Dynamics operations this summer, was unexpectedly plucked from the software unit to head Microsoft's search engine and ad group.

Nadella was supposed to replace Doug Burgum, who headed the operation for 23 years. Tami Reller, corporate VP, named as acting head of the group, said that the Microsoft would not use the search process set up to find Burgum's replacement. "It will be a different process than before," she said.

CDC RESULTS JUMP

Revenue for CDC Software, which owns such products as Pivotal CRM and Ross Systems financial applications, reached $240.2 million for the year ended Dec. 31, up 19.2 percent from $201.7 million in 2005.

The unit, which drew 58 percent of its revenue from the Americas, is owned by CDC Corp., is based in Beijing and Atlanta. The parent had net income of $8.2 million for 2006, compared to a loss of $3.5 million the prior year. Total CDC revenue for 2006 was $308.8 million, up 26 percent from $245 million.

M2M HOLDINGS CHANGES NAMES

M2M Holdings, which took its name from the Made2Manage product line, has changed its named to Consona Corp., whose new divisions are built around M2M and seven other acquisitions.

The Consona CRM division includes Onyx CRM, BPM, and BI for the enterprise. Consona ERP incorporates Intuitive ERP for discrete manufacturers, Made2Manage ERP and SupplyWorks. Consona Industry Solutions comprises a number of products for a variety of manufacturing operations.

SYSPRO DOES COLLEGE DEAL

Syspro has reached an agreement with the Schwartz School of Business and Information Systems at St. Francis Xavier University, a Canadian school, which will use Syspro's financial software in educational degree programs starting in September.

Syspro applications will be utilized in research projects of faculty and honors students. Syspro markets manufacturing and CRM software.

PLUMBLINE TAPS LONGO

Plumbline Solutions has named Joseph Longo, formerly a Solomon reseller based in New Jersey, as VP of consulting services.

Based in Findlay, Ohio, Plumbline provides development services for the Microsoft Dynamics SL (formerly Solomon) line. Longo was most recently COO of Six Disciplines, whose owners also founded the former Solomon. Todd Michael was also named director of sales and marketing.

YULGA, ACCTRAK21 PART

Steve Yulga, who had represented Acctrak21 in the United States, has parted company with the Malaysian-based accounting software vendor.

Yulga, who joined Acctrak21 in the summer of 2003, said he and the vendor had reached a mutual decision to end the relationship and that AccTrak had retained Ted West of Sage Partners as a consultant. Last year, AccTrak21's only publicly identified reseller, Plante+Moran, dropped the product.

SAGE PICKS ABRA HEAD

Sage Software has hired Jessica Simmons as VP and general manager of its Abra HRMS operations.

Simmons, most recently a VP in the Human Resource Outsourcing division of Aon Consulting Worldwide, takes over the responsibilities from Karl Grass, VP and GM for specialized business solutions, who had run the group since Mary Doize left.

KINTERA RESTRUCTURES

With a new CEO on board, nonprofit vendor Kintera is chopping staff, restating results and jettisoning product lines it says don't contribute to better performance.

Richard N. LaBarbera, who replaced founder Harry Gruber in March as CEO, said the company is cutting its workforce to about 300 from 368 and will chop product lines. However, he said the FundWare fund application business is a core line and that the company will expand its channel in all areas this year.

VP JOINS ADERANT

Jeff Boyce, formerly VP of Hewlett-Packard Software Service Delivery, has joined Atlanta-based Aderant as VP of professional services.

Boyce, who will be responsible for managing a global team of professional services consultants, joined HP through its acquisition of Peregrine Systems, where he was SVP of solutions consulting. Aderant markets practice management software for professional services firms.
