INTUIT MOVES CFO Kiran Patel, who became CFO in 2005 after Robert "Brad" Henske took over as GM and SVP for the company's TurboTax operations, has now taken the TurboTax job as Henske is leaving the company.

Henske has taken a position with the private equity firm Hellman & Friedman. Henske had joined Intuit as CFO in January 2003.

THOMSON TO SELL PROMETRIC

Thomson Corp. is selling Thomson Prometric, which helped develop and administers the online CPA exam, to testing specialist ETA for $435 million including $310 million in cash.

Thomson is selling its Learning business in three different sales. The company said Prometric has more than 400 clients. Among tests offered are the certifications for the Project Management Institute, Oracle University, the National Association of Securities Dealers, and Microsoft's Microsoft Certified Professional. ETS is best known for standardized education exams, such as the Scholastic Aptitude Test.

SUREPAYROLL PUBLISHES VIDEOS

SurePayroll, which markets online payroll services, is publishing free videos on its Web site called, "The SurePayroll Minute."

Available through RSS feeds, the videos can be accessed at www.surepayroll.com/video. Twelve videos were available initially with the plan to have 28 by this month. Designed for small businesses, the videos cover topics such as health care, payroll taxes, 401(k), and best practices regarding employee recruitment, retention and termination.

ADVENT NAMES VP

Advent Software has named Chris Flynn as vice president of product management, trading and compliance of the San Francisco-based financial planning and money management software company.

The company said the newly created position shows its commitment to expanding its suit of portfolio management applications with trading and compliance packages for investment management firms. Flynn most recently was North America Product Manager at software company LatentZero, but had been with Advent for 10 years before joining that company.

WK BUYS SHARES

Wolters Kluwer, the Dutch parent of CCH, acquired 1,370,313 of its own shares from June 25 through June 29 as part of a roughly $645 million share repurchase program.

The shares acquired in June had a value of roughly $40.7 million, when translated from recent values of the euro. The company has completed the acquisition of 2,717,015 shares for about $83.4 million.

THOMSON BUYS BENEFIT UNIT

Thomson Tax & Accounting has acquired Employee Benefits Institute of America, an Edmonds, Wash.-based company that provides employee benefits research to benefits professionals.

The acquired company will become part of Thomson's Research & Guidance group and will be integrated into Checkpoint, the company's online tax research platform.

CCH ADDS REPORTING TOOL

CCH has added a tool to the CCH Learning Center that enables professionals to access online CPE subscription, online grading for CCH print course, Web-based self-study courses and audio seminars.

Training administrators can add and modify user information, access course evaluation summaries, and filter course enrollment and completion information, based on given parameters.

BNA PICKS CFO

Tax publisher BNA has named Robert P. Ambrosini as vice president and CFO of the Washington, D.C.-based company.

Ambrosini was SVP, finance and accounting for the National Geographic Channel from 2004 to 2006, and most recently was providing management advisory services to corporate clients.

CCH TO RESELL ISSI PRODUCT

CCH has entered an exclusive agreement under which it will be the worldwide reseller of Exemption Certificate Management software and services for Imaging Science and Services Inc.

The software automates the capture, organization and management of sales tax exemption and resale certificates. The ISSI products are TeamExpress on Demand for capturing, indexing and managing a company's database of tax documents and LineLinkXL, an Excel compatible add-on to turn a spreadsheet into a document organizer that can help streamline the audit response process.
