INTUIT ONLINE PAYROLL Intuit Online Payroll guides new employers and small businesses through payroll tasks, from setup, to paying employees to filing forms.

The Liability Payment Center sends email reminders when key payments are due, tracking who gets paid and how much is owed. Getting started requires completing a questionnaire, with a checklist of required information. QuickBooks integration is expected to be available this year.

CASEWARE TIME 2008

CaseWare International has improved document management, reporting and security in its latest version time and billing package.

Time 2008 lets a staff member belong to more than one protection group and allows only an administrator to change another administrator’s staff record properties. Reports can be saved as or exported to Excel. Client email addresses appear on Trial Balance reports. Reports now exclude transactions that have not been approved.

RETIREMENT DISTRIBUTIONS PLANNER

Copanion’s Web-based application for tax professionals automatically captures and classifies their clients’ tax return documents in three steps:

DYMO SCANNING AND FILING

DymoFile technology digitally scans and files multiple documents simultaneously.

MICROSOFT DYNAMICS CRM 4.0

The latest version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM extends global capabilities with 25 languages and support for multiple currencies, includes a reporting wizard and can support multiple customers per server.

Version 4.0 is available on-premise, partner-hosted or Microsoft hosted (called CRM Live). Advanced business process automation is based on the Windows Workflow Foundation. Collaboration with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and includes real-time indicators within the CRM application.

PAYCYCLE 2008

PayCycle’s online payroll service allows accountants to assign various permission levels to their clients so they can share the data entry or payroll processing responsibilities.

MYOB FOR WINDOWS AND MAC

Premier Accounting 2008 for Windows and AccountEdge 2008 for Mac track employees’ vacation and sick time by including reasons for time taken, accrual balance reports and automatic wage adjustments on time sheets as well as the ability to email and print pay stubs.

AccountEdge 2008, which integrates wit the Mac OS X’s iCal and .Mac, can set up reminders and sent them to an iCal as calendar events and action items. Premier Accounting features an itemized customer statement, which includes payments received, discounts taken and credits applied.

OSAS 7.5 AND TRAVERSE BANKING

A banking application in now available in Open System Traverse 10.5 and OSAS 7.5 transmits electronic payments to banks and pays invoices via credit card through an Automatic Clearing House.

Positive Pay, a fraud control and loss prevention method, enables user to build a file of outstanding bills and send it to their banks for authorizing check payments. OSAS also has added a Landed Cost application to the Purchase Order application to improve accountability for inventory costs by allowing users to distribute the indirect costs of shipping to inventory items.

SAGE MIP FUND ACCOUNTING

Version 9 of MIP Fund Accounting offers tax forms and e-filing by Aatrix so users can produce W-2 and W-3 forms and electronically file federal and state reports.

The Recurring and Reversing Entry Manager enables users to set up, edit and manipulate repetitive tasks. The Fixed Assets module contains enhanced tracking and reporting capabilities.

PROSYSTEM FX SCAN 3.0

CCH’s ProSystem fx Scan 3.0 handles errors better than before, increases accuracy and speed, while improving the quality of scanned images.

If a file doesn’t process, Scan will stop that job and continue to the next. It sharpens blurred images, cleans grayscale and colorizes bookmarks for visual tracking. Dashboards let users review scanned jobs and gives them greater control over cover sheets and batch printing.

AMT TAX PLANNER

The Alternative Minimum Tax Planner calculates 1,000 tax projections to determine if moving the state income tax deduction from an AMT year to a non-AMT year will benefit taxpayers.

A graph displays the amount of state income tax reduction that should result in maximum savings. It will also report if the strategy will work.
