Henry & Horne, a Phoenix area CPA firm, has created a group page and a business page on Facebook.
The group page provides information about obtaining a job at Henry & Horne, areas to ask questions and start discussions about the firm or news and pictures from the firm's regular office events. The business page offers the opportunity to discuss the firm's business practices and post reviews.
JMT NAMES VP
JMT Consulting has named Tom Thornton as vice president of sales, part of a continuing expansion of management at the Patterson, N.Y.-based reseller.
Thornton will report to Kent Hollrah, president of the nonprofit accounting reseller. The two worked together at Micro Information Products where Hollrah was CEO and then joined Sage Software with its purchase of MIP. JMT was No. 96 on the Accounting Technology VAR 100 list with $4.1 million in revenue for 2007.
COLUMBUS IT PICKS CEO
Columbus IT Partner, a Dynamics reseller based in Denmark, has named Claus E. Hansen as its new CEO.
Hansen, currently chief operating officer, will take over next month from Michael Gaardboe, a founder and major shareholder. Gaardboe, who spent three years in the CEO job, has been nominated to serve on the company's board and will become chairman of To-Increase, a Columbus IT subsidiary. Gaardboe, who will be 50 years old in January, said that his original plan was to retire at 40.
BLYTHECO ON THE GROW
Blytheco, which has been Sage Software's Partner of the Year several times, is aggressively expanding its staff after buying seven other resellers in the last two years.
In October, the company had six job postings on Monster.com, three for CRM consultants, each in different offices. CEO Steve Blythe said the company is expanding its staff in existing markets and looking for merger and acquisition candidates.
LBMC WINS IT PRIZE
Accounting firm LBMC has received the Internal Technology Innovation award at the annual Leading Edge Alliance Conference.
LBMC's award stemmed from its utilization of Microsoft SharePoint to provide information sharing for teams at the organization's three Tennessee offices. The system is used in meeting preparation and for distributing information, including new sections on training, reporting and employee classifieds. LBMC utilized the services of its LBMC Technologies unit to implement the SharePoint platform.
SOCIUS HONORED BY SAGE, MICROSOFT
Socius, a financial software reseller based in Dublin, Ohio, has been named to the Sage Software President's Circle making it the only VAR to win the top award from Sage and Microsoft.
Earlier, Socius was named to the Microsoft Inner Circle. It is the second consecutive year that the company, headed by Doug Weintraub and Jeff Geisler, has received both honors. Socius was No. 24 on Accounting Technology's VAR 100 with revenue of $12 million.
AXIS PARTNERS SPLIT
The partners of Axis Integrated Solutions, a Sage Accpac reseller, have split the company into two similarly named reselling units.
The St. Louis office has kept the name of the company that was formed early in 2005. It also has offices in Tulsa, Okla.; Baton Rouge, La.; and Kansas City, Kan. The Chicago office and Miami locations have formed Axis Global Partners, which recently opened an office in Toronto. Partner Manny Buigas said, "We wanted to take a broader approach than the smaller markets" and that his organization will increase its focus on CRM and business intelligence.
