Opening a new year does not require closing the current one. The year can be closed to determine year-end adjustments that can be posted to a special period and not affecting last year’s monthly statements are unaffected. Serial numbers and lot tracking for both raw materials and finished goods tells manufacturers how much stock of particular items they have, which assembly contains the items, which items were used as components of an assembled product and its destination.

FamilyOfficeNetwork, which provides online portals for the financial services industry, now offers Total Account Aggregation, which consolidates updated client account information including tax returns, credit card statements, financial accounts and trusts in one spot.

The offering comes as a result of an alliance between FamilyOfficeNetwork and Advisor Exchange. With the basic edition, advisors can have up to 500 clients on the same system and an unlimited number of financial accounts. Nightly updates are automatic. The standard edition also includes the ability to export data into Excel.

Auditors can import PDF data with ACL Version 9.1 on both the ACL Desktop and ACL Server Editions without needing to convert data into another format.

They also can validate the accuracy of PDF reports through comparative analytics between source data and PDF data that uncover anomalies, inconsistencies and errors that may indicate gaps or weaknesses in business controls or possible fraud. Employees can access flexible spending account funds via the Paychex FSA Debit Card, to pay for eligible costs such as prescriptions, co-pays and dependent care.

Expenses are automatically deducted from the participants' accounts instead of their waiting for reimbursement. The card complies with IRS regulations stipulating they be used at stores and Web-based vendors that install an inventory information approval system to ensure the eligibility. Risk analysis services combine a manual evaluation by trained fraud prevention forensic analysts and software to flag high-risk transactions and vendors. Then auditors review documentation and databases to identify fraudulent vendors and employees who sidestepped internal controls. APEX partnered with ATTUS Technologies to incorporate government information on prohibited individuals, companies and countries into FirstStrike Fraud Detect. The software flags suspicious transactions and provides risk scores.
