ADP OPENS PORTAL ADP Small Business Services has launched the Accountant Center, an online portal, that provides resources to small accounting firms.

The portal offers free research involving federal, state and local payroll tax laws, along with free, personalized tax and HR research. Users have access to continuing education credits on the site at www.accountant.adp.com.

Emerging Information Solutions, which markets the Profiles and NaviPlan financial planning software lines, has established the ability for customers to purchase the applications via the company’s Web site.

The products are available at the products & solutions section. Purchasing is made via use of a Buy button. NaviPlan and Profiles can also be purchased via the telephone.

SPEEDTAX INTEGRATING WITH SAGE

SpeedTax, which markets online sales and use tax software, has signed an agreement under which its SpeedTax Manager will be integrated with two of Sage Software’s accounting software lines.

The integration with Sage’s MAS 90 and 200 packages is being written by Blytheco, one of Sage’s largest software resellers. Code Partners, a reseller based in Dallas, will write the integration between SpeedTax Manager and Accpac.

BENNETT CASHES SHARES

Former Intuit CEO Stephen Bennett, who is still a company director, has sold 168,300 shares he purchased via the exercise of options.

Bennett purchased the shares at $17.97 each for just over $3 million, and sold them for $5.05 million. Bennett resigned from his position as of Dec. 31 and was replaced by Brad Smith, an Intuit SVP.

YODLEE RAISES $35 MILLION

Yodlee, which markets online products for payroll processing and banking, has raised $35 million in a new round of financing.

Bank of America was the lead investor. Existing investors, including Warburg Pincus, Accel Partners and Institutional Venture Partners, also participated in the financing. The company will use proceeds for developing sales, deployment and operational infrastructure.

INCOME TAX SCHOOL LAUNCHES CAREER CENTER

The Income Tax School has opened the Tax Professional CareerCenter to provide online information to help students find jobs or become self-employed as tax professionals.

Students and employers can post resumes and jobs for free. The site also offers information on the Strategic Planning Retreats and Next Level Retreats provided by the Richmond, Va.-based company for entrepreneurs who want to start a tax business or want expert advice on existing businesses.

CCH ENHANCES ARM

CCH has added an expert guide to SOX 404 to the Internal Controls Library on the Accounting Research Manager.

The new material is The Guide to Internal Controls Under Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (Second Edition), by James Hamilton, JD, LLM and N. Peter Rasmussen, JD, and is an expert guide to SOX requirements.

JACKSON HEWITT RESULTS DROP

Jackson Hewitt reported revenue of $279.7 million for the year ended April 30, down from $293.2 million in fiscal 2007, as the number of tax returns prepared declined.

The company also reported net income of $32.4 million for the most recently ended year, down from $65.4 million. Jackson Hewitt said the number of returns prepared in the latest tax season fell by 5.3 percent, and excluding the Economic Stimulus Rebate returns, dropped by 7.1 percent.

CERIDIAN WORKS ON PLATFORM

Ceridian Benefits Services, which provides employee benefits outsourcing, has allied with Lighthouse1 to provide an enhanced Web platform for expanding the capabilities of the Ceridian services.

Ceridian says the new technology provides greater ease of use, efficiency and customer service to employers that use pretax services such as flexible spending account administration.

PAYCYCLE ADDS VP

Online payroll vendor PayCycle has named Jane Willis, an Adobe System veteran, as vice president of branded business.

Meanwhile, Tanya Roberts, previously vice president of marketing, has moved to the newly created position of vice president of key accounts and will work with financial institutions offering PayCycle services to their small business customers.
