The New Jersey Society of CPAs recognized their 2012 Women of Note at its second annual Women’s Conference Jan. 9 in Iselin, N.J.

In addition to honoring 36 women for their contribution to the profession, the NJSCPA and the community, the conference featured educational sessions about negotiation skills and “shattering the glass ceiling.”

“Female Society attendees really appreciate sharing their unique needs, concerns and experiences,” said Pat Marrese, associate director of the NJSCPA Education Foundation and Business Development, in a statement. “The event has successfully grown from a half-day to a full-day conference, and we hope to hold this for many years to come.”

“I believe women in our profession need to support and nurture each other and to be visible role models for other women professionals in the accounting profession now and in the future,” stated Grant Thornton director Debra E. Hahn. “This conference gives women a unique experience to meet with other women professionals, develop relationships, learn valuable skills and build our confidence as women professionals.”

The 2012 Women of Note received a special certificate during the conference’s networking session.

“Being named an NJSCPA Woman of Note is very special to me because it represents the highest honor that the Society has bestowed on me and my fellow honorees in recognition for excellence in professional, charitable and civic achievement on this the 100 year anniversary celebration of the first female member of the NJSCPA,” stated EisnerAmper director Deborah L. Kovalik.
