Jeanne A. Smith, tax and strategic business services partner at Southwest CPA firm Weaver, has been appointed to a two-year term as a national regional director of the American Society of Women Accountants.

Regional directors for ASWA, the professional organization that empowers women in accounting and related fields to reach their full personal and professional potential, are liaisons between the national board and the local chapter presidents.

Smith works with the Central Arkansas, Dallas, Fort Worth and DFW/Mid-Cities chapters in the South Central Region and the West Palm Beach, Fla., chapter in the Southeast Region.

“We are proud of Jeanne, her many accomplishments and her involvement with ASWA,” said Weaver managing partner and CEO Tommy D. Lawler in a statement. “She represents our firm well, and we know ASWA will benefit from her extensive knowledge and leadership experience.”

With more than 30 years of public accounting experience, Smith focuses on tax consulting and compliance for corporations, partnerships and individuals in the industries of manufacturing, hospitality, healthcare, real estate and professional service companies.

Smith graduated magna cum laude as a bachelor of business administration in accounting for the University of Texas at Arlington and is a frequent speaker on local and state tax matters.

She is also a member American Institute of CPAs, Texas Society of CPAs and the TSCPA Fort Worth chapter, and the University of Texas at Arlington Accounting Advisory Board.
