Philadelphia accounting firm Alloy, Silverstein, Shapiro, Adams, Mulford, Cicalese, Wilson & Co. dressed in red Friday, Feb. 3, to benefit the American Heart Association and bring attention to heart disease, the number one killer of New Jersey and American women.

Alloy Silverstein joined accounting firms nationwide who donned the color for the ninth annual National Wear Red Day for Women.

Last year, the American Heart Association recognized Alloy Silverstein as a top 50 national corporate participant, the third largest contributor in the state of New Jersey, the number one team in South Jersey and the state’s top contributing accounting firm.

This year, firm employees invited their children to join them in “going red” for the cause.

“Heart disease is personal, so this year we involved our families in the initiative,” said managing shareholder Ren Cicalese in a statement. “As a Wear Red Day leader in South Jersey, we are leading by example for our children, showing them our support and passion firsthand. They in turn learn of the importance of heart health at an early age and can aid in spreading the message.”

Funds raised through the Go Red for Women movement benefit research, education and programs to help reduce the incidence of heart disease and stroke in women, which is the number one health threat facing women today, according to the American Heart Association. More information on the movement is available here.
