The Ohio Society of CPAs and the Ohio CPA Foundation, in partnership with the Ohio chapters of the National Association of Black Accountants, are seeking minority high school students in the state to participate in the nationally recognized Accounting Careers Awareness Program June 17-22.

The all-expense paid college residency program will be held at the Ohio State University Fisher College of Business in Columbus and host 45 students who will learn more about business and accounting careers and compete for college scholarships. The application deadline is April 6.

The week-long program includes interactive workshops, local business tours and mentoring sessions with minority business professionals.

“ACAP-Ohio gives students a unique opportunity to explore accounting and business in the classroom and in real-world settings where CPAs and other business professionals work,” said Edwin Jones, ACAP-Ohio 2012 co-chair, in a statement. “These hands-on experiences help students learn about exciting career opportunities they may have otherwise never considered.”

To participate, students must submit an application, a 200-word essay, one letter of reference and an official high school transcript by April 6. Submissions can be completed online at www.futurecpa.com and questions can be directed to Emily Bice, assistant manager of student initiatives, at ebice@ohio-cpa.com.
