Is It HR’s Job to Bridge the Technology Divide?

Ever have a Boomer in your firm ask a younger worker a verbal question only to have that younger worker respond via email or instant message—even when they sit in the same room?

It happens a lot.

In some cases, it’s appropriate and in others it’s not.

An article entitled “Bridging the Generational Techno-Divide” on Human Resources Executive Online talks about the role HR can play in helping set guidelines for employees of all generations.

For example, one company gives all its staff BlackBerrys and allows instant messaging, but monitors IM usage, and prohibits using PDAs during meetings.
