HS Accounting Teacher Recognized as Outstanding

A Highland, Utah high school accounting teacher has been named a “Rising Star” by the Utah CPA Foundation for doing an outstanding job teaching accounting principles in her classroom.

Lone Peak High School teacher Janae Forsey also received recognition for developing and maintaining a strong accounting program in her school.

Forsey won the “Rising Star Award” and received $500 cash. The Foundation honored Forsey in front of 350 peers at the Utah State Office of Education’s Business Education Summer Conference at the end of June.

“Accounting skills are invaluable life skills, especially in this lean economy,” said Wendy Martin, board member of the Utah CPA Foundation. “We look to reward high school teachers who do their absolute best to build enthusiasm for and knowledge of accounting to a prime audience.”

Martin recommended Forsey and Bonneville High School’s Judy Whitney – who won the “Champion of the Profession Award” for “their passion in encouraging students to learn and implement accounting into their everyday lives, as well as help them on their professional paths to the future.”
