Tis the season of giving and the Suffolk Chapter of the New York State Society of CPAs is in the midst of its 15th annual Toys for Tots drive.
Donations for toys will be accepted through Dec. 9 at more than 120 locations in Suffolk and Nassau counties, including 25 local CPA firms, 16 branches of the State Bank of Long Island and 26 branches of the First National Bank of Long Island.
The toys will be donated to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program with a ceremonial pick-up of the toys by the Marines on Friday, Dec. 11 at the offices of Sheehan & Company CPAs in Brightwaters.
The toys will be picked up in a tractor trailer.
Last year, despite the economic downturn, Suffolk CPAs with help from the Nassau and Manhattan/Bronx chapters collected 4,000 toys, according to Cynthia Finn Barry, NYSSCPA board member and event coordinator.
We are extremely hopeful that this year will be our most successful effort to date, Barry said.
