UHY Advisors Tax Principal Named Atlanta Up & Comer

When you’re good, you’re good. LeighAnn H. Costley has been named one of Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 40 Under 40 Rising Stars for 2009 – and considering she just joined the firm’s Atlanta’s office in August to launch its new Southeast Tax Practice Group, we think that’s pretty great.

The publication profiled Costley in a special section, calling her a “rising star in the local business community.” It also noted that she was hired by UHY because the firm “needed a dynamic leader with a strong technical background and a willingness to tackle the challenge of building a brand new tax practice."

A Detroit native, Costley moved to Atlanta in 2003 without any personal or professional ties. She became involved with Kate’s Club, a non-profit that empowers children and teens facing life after the death of a parent or a sibling. Since January 2008 she has chaired the organization’s board of directors.

“I have the distinct pleasure of working with LeighAnn on a daily basis,” said Rob Vinson, managing director of UHY Advisors’ Southeast practice. “She possesses in abundance all of the skills that we desire to emulate in business and community leaders.”

Costley has also participated in the Atlanta Women’s Foundation “Women on Board” program, is a graduate of the Pathbuilders Achieva Program and is a United Way Tocqueville Society member.

“Being chosen is an amazing honor,” Costley said. “It is especially rewarding to have been nominated by Rob, who recognized my leadership potential and has empowered me to further develop these skills through business development and community involvement."
