WISS & Company Hosts Shadowing Program for College Juniors

Four stellar New Jersey accounting majors were chosen from a group of more than 50 to shadow employees at WISS & Company as part of the firm’s first annual Winter Shadowing Program.

The firm hosted a two-day event, with the first day providing an introduction about the firm, its culture and the presenters of the program. Students also attended a networking breakfast where they had the opportunity to meet several WISS staff and heard various presentations about different niche groups and services within the firm.

The next day students got to roll up their sleeves and join WISS staff in visiting clients. They were given laptops and headed out to take part in a real audit – learning about the various functions of the audit process, including the calculation of materiality and testing. After their day, the students were treated to a dinner with the firm’s managers, partners and staff from human resources.

“The program was extremely helpful and opened my eyes to the true work environment of WISS & Company,” said one student from the College of New Jersey. “I have participated in shadowing programs in the past, this has been the only program I felt was an actual shadowing experience and allowed me to see what would it be like to come to work at WISS every day.”

The students – which came from The College of New Jersey, Rowan University and Rutgers – were chosen from an applicant pool of more than 50, all of whom were required to have a GPA of at least 3.2 and submit an essay expressing why they should be chosen.
