Heres another study telling us what we already know that university students choose job security over pay and benefits as a result of the economic downturn.
Thats what a report, conducted by KPMG, is telling us.
The survey found that more than 75 percent of those polled more than 350 university students considered job security their top priority when searching for a job.
Not surprisingly, given the discouraging job market, many of those college students surveyed 69 percent of them - are heading back to school for post-graduate degrees instead of seeking employment right after graduation. Sixty-seven percent of those students also said they would work for a nonprofit over a corporation due to the economic downturn.
The survey also reported that for students, personal development is still a big priority when selecting a place of employment. They want real opportunities to develop their skills, challenging and exciting work and to be side-by-side with talented colleagues.
Also found in the report: 55 percent of the respondents said they were most likely to stay with their employer for two to four years. And, yes in case you were wondering, Facebook is the most regularly used social media platform among university students and is the vehicle most would use when researching a potential employer.
