Deloitte, United Way & Teach For America Team Up For ‘Maximum Impact’

Integrating volunteer initiatives with Deloitte’s on-campus recruiting activities is what Maximum Impact is all about – and it’s going on right now for college students.

Two different spring break programs offer student participants a chance to work side-by-side with Deloitte professionals sharing their time and skills with communities in need, while experiencing first hand Deloitte’s people, culture, values and career options.

The first one, which ends today, had Deloitte and United Way hosting 50 students from approximately 30 colleges and universities along with 20 Deloitte professionals for a week of hands-on and skills-based volunteerism in Atlanta. Students were working to enhance childcare centers, refurbish playgrounds for low-income youth, guide students in college exploration and promote literacy in children.

Next week, Deloitte and Teach for America will co-host 25 students from six colleges and universities along with 20 professionals from Deloitte and Teach for America for a week of education-centered volunteerism in Baton Rouge, La. Volunteers will work with schools and local students who face the challenges of educational inequity to help with improving campuses, developing classroom lessons and helping with class prep work.

In addition, the programs allow for the participating students to engage in leadership development and team building exercises, social and networking events and tours of the communities they serve.
