Chair of AICPA’s Tax Executive Committee to testify on tax relief for victims of natural disasters

Troy K. Lewis, chair of the AICPA'sTax Executive Committee, is set to testify on Tuesday, November 18, at the Tax Relief after a Disaster: How Individuals, Small Businesses, and Communities Recover hearing, which will be held by the Senate Finance Subcommittee on Taxation and IRS Oversight.

Lewis will urge Congress to pass permanent tax disaster assistance legislation, which would be automatically triggered by a declaration of a federal disaster, meaning that taxpayers would be fairly treated and have immediate access to relief.

The hearing is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. in Room 215 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building at First and C Streets, N.E. in Washington, D.C. Additionally, the AICPA’s testimony will be available on November 18 from Shirley Twillman atstwillman@aicpa.org
