BKD flies cancer patients to treatment via Angel Network

CPA and advisory firm BKD joined the Corporate Angel Network last month, making its corporate plane available to cancer and bone marrow transplant patients requesting free travel through the network.

CAN is composed of more than 500 U.S. corporations that provide free plane transportation to medical facilities for those that need treatment. Every week, BKD’s flight schedule is entered into a database where patients are then matched with routes.

“The Corporate Angel Network offers us a great chance to use our company airplane to positively affect the lives of others,” BKD CEO Neal Spencer said in a statement. “We’re proud to be able to participate in this program as part of our continuing effort to serve the communities that are home to our offices and employees.”

In 2010, CAN coordinated flights for 3,021 cancer patients and has transported nearly 40,000 patients since its founding in 1981.
