BlumShapiro kicks off annual Holiday Gift Giving Program

New England accounting, tax and business consulting firm BlumShapiro teamed up with the South Shore YMCA Germantown Neighborhood Center for the firm’s annual Holiday Gift Giving Program.

BlumShapiro employees will hold a toy and clothing drive in the Quincy  offices to solicit donations of gift certificates, winter clothing and gifts to low and moderate income families.

The firm will also donate $1,000 to the center that last year served a record-breaking 3,000 Quincy residents and is expecting an increased demand this year.

“We are very excited to support the Holiday Gift Giving Program for a second year in a row,” stated Kevin White, partner in charge of the BlumShapiro Quincy office. “This is a great opportunity to support and contribute to the overall well being of the community in which we do business.”

BlumShapiro volunteers will also be working with the center to sort the donated gifts and assemble the packages for delivery to families throughout the South Shore and Quincy. The BlumShapiro office will also be a gift-giving location for employees and visitors to select an ornament from a tree and purchase the needed gifts.

Donations of food baskets, clothing, cash and gift certificates are appreciated at the South Shore YMCA Germantown Neighborhood Center and should be submitted by Dec. 17. BlumShapiro and Germantown employees will then be sorting and assembling packages Dec. 19. Checks should be made payable to the Germantown Neighborhood Center/YMCA, 366 Palmer Street, Quincy, MA (note: all contributions are tax deductible). More information can be found at www.ssymca.org, clicking on the Germantown branch or call the Germantown Neighborhood Center at 617-376-1364.

The goal of the Holiday Gift Giving Program, running through Dec. 17, is to ensure every child receives a winter coat, one outfit, pajamas and gifts from their wish list. The program will also be providing a week’s worth of groceries to each needy family and offering confidential advocacy, crisis intervention and time-limited counseling services to participants in need.

“We are excited to once again partner with BlumShapiro for this important annual event,” said Kathy Quigley, executive director of the Germantown Neighborhood Center, in a statement. “There is nothing more rewarding than providing gifts to families in need on Christmas. When they receive that gift on Christmas it’s a reminder that someone cares. We always welcome gift card donations as they prove to be a versatile present for teens and those with varied interests.”
