CFA Institute forms partnership with Darden School of Business

CFA Institute, the association for global investment professionals, announced that the University of Virginia Darden School of Business has been named a CFA Program partner for its masters of business administration.

The CFA Program sets a worldwide standard for financial analysts, portfolio mangers, investment advisers and other investment professionals with its Chartered Financial Analyst credential, which was established in 1963.

CFA Program partners are recognized for university curriculum that is closely tied to professional practice and will prepare students to sit for three levels of CFA examinations. Partners must have a degree program that covers at least 70 percent of the CFA Program candidate body of knowledge, along with the ethical and professional standards of the CFA Institute.

"The number of Darden students taking the CFA exam is rising,” said Ken Eades, Darden professor and area coordinator for finance, in a statement. “This partnership signals to incoming and prospective students that our curriculum is designed to be applicable for the CFA exams.”

The institute also recently partnered with the Darden School of Business to host the school’s International Finance Conference.

As part of this partnership, Darden will have access to various CFA Institute resources like daily investment publication Financial Newsbrief, select institute content, notices of educational opportunities and five student scholarships per year.

"Students in these programs are exposed to the candidate body of knowledge, concepts and principles that have been identified by investment experts worldwide as essential to global practice," said Bob Johnson, senior managing director of CFA Institute, in a statement. "By mastering these fundamentals of the CFA Program, students will be well on their way to earning the highly valued CFA charter."

The CFA Program Partner Initiative was launched April 2006 with Said Business School at the University of Oxford as the inaugural partner.
