Illinois CPAs recognize Deloitte manager's diversity work

June 7, 2011

The Illinois CPA Society presented Deloitte Tax Senior Manager Muhammad Gigani with its 2011 Outstanding Leadership in Advancing Diversity Award for his work in promoting inclusiveness in the community and at Deloitte Tax.

With more than 11 years in the tax and accounting profession, Gigani is a founding member of the Chicago chapter of the Deloitte Hispanic Network Business Resource Group and currently serves as its National Practice Management Office Leader. He also participates in Deloitte’s counseling and mentoring programs and was a past recipient of the Quest Award, which recognizes excellence in coaching.

As a result of his involvement with Deloitte’s Midwest tax diversity & inclusion team, the mentoring program Careers in Motion was created to pair young, diverse employees with partners and directors for coaching.

In addition to his work with the firm, Gigani is a member of the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, is the Association of Latino professionals in Finance and Accounting Chicago Deloitte Champion, and serves as treasurer of the Board of Directors for the National Latino Education Institute, based in Chicago.

Gigani received a BS degree in accountancy from the university of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
