PICPA bestows volunteer award to Philadelphia firm partner

Mid-Atlantic firm ParenteBeard Partner Julius Green will receive the 2011 Volunteer Service Award of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs Friday during the group’s annual meeting and luncheon at The Sofitel Philadelphia.

Green was a founding member and current chair of PICPA’s diversity committee, which he directs with the goal of increasing diversity within the Pennsylvania CPA profession and the organization by encouraging young minority interest.

Green also serves his community as a fellow of leadership new Jersey and on the Mt. Laurel basketball league.

Green is ParenteBeard’s exempt organization tax practice leader, responsible for all tax compliance and consulting matters for that client base, including the healthcare, senior living services, higher education and membership organization sectors.

“Julius is highly respected in our profession – and by our entire team - for the truly outstanding commitment to his community,” said ParenteBeard Chief Executive Officer Bob Ciaruffoli in a statement. “Julius’ volunteer activities are a prime example of how our team members continually live up to the firm’s Values & Principles by working to develop an environment of growth and betterment within our profession and within the community. He is most deserving of this recognition and we all congratulate him on this important award.”

In addition to holding a JD from the George Washington University Law Center and an MBA and BS in accounting from the University of Baltimore Merrick School of Business, Green is a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia Bar Associations and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
