Wipfli celebrates annual Community Day of giving

CPA and consulting firm Wipfli closed all of its offices, in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and Spokane, Wash., Sept. 26 so hundreds of employees could give back locally through the firm’s ninth annual Community Day.

Firm associates dedicated more than 4,000 work hours to this year’s event, which benefits communities that have contributed to Wipfli’s growth.

“Wipfli’s volunteer group has partnered with us the last several years preparing many craft kits, paperwork, and classroom folder information for Junior Achievement BizTown and Junior Achievement Finance Park,” stated Kay Van Matre, capstone manager with Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest in Minneapolis. “We have come to count on the time they spend with us each year.”

Emily Kanally of Spokane’s Inland Northwest Second Harvest Food Bank, stated, “Second Harvest is grateful for the assistance of Wipfli, and other corporate partners, at a time when hunger is such a pressing problem in the Inland Northwest. With one of four children in the region living with hunger, Wipfli’s volunteers helped sort food for rapid distribution to partner food banks and meal programs helping hungry children, families and seniors.”

Other impacted organizations included the Sterling-Rock Falls Historical Society Lincoln Learning Center and Museum Curator in Sterling, Ill., the Trinity Equestrian Center in Eau Claire, Wisc., and Heritage Hill in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
