Accounting No. 1 industry in hiring interns full-time

Good news for accounting interns: you’re hired!

Or likely to be, according to a LinkedIn.com survey that found, of its 3.5 million members that held internships at some point, those that did so in accounting had the highest rate of conversion into full-time positions.

Accounting led the pack with a 31 percent conversion rate, based on LinkedIn evaluating member profiles. The top firms in offering the full-time transition, according to the social network, are: EY, KPMG US, McGladrey, Plante Moran and PwC.

Coming up behind accounting at 25 percent was management consulting which, among other companies, included Deloitte as one of the leaders.

Companies in the third-ranking industry, computer software (at 24 percent), include Intuit and Microsoft.

Rounding out the top 10 are, in descending order: Internet (22 percent), information technology and services (22 percent), consumer goods (21 percent), oil and energy (19 percent), automotive (17 percent) and telecommunications (16 percent).
