AICPA opens submissions for under-40 Maximo Mukelabai Award

The American Institute of CPAs is accepting nominations for the Maximo Mukelabai Award, recognizing a CPA under the age of 40 that has helped build the CPA pipeline, serve as an advocate of the profession and perform community service.

The annual award is in tribute to the late Maximo Mukelabai, a member of the inaugural class of the AICPA Leadership Academy and the youngest chair of the North Carolina Association of CPAs’ board of directors. He died at the age of 36.

Peers, employers, AICPA staff and state CPA societies can submit nominations for review by the AICPA’s Young CPA Network Committee. Self nominations are not accepted.

Nominators will be notified of the final selection in June 2012 and the recipient will be announced and presented with the award at the E.D.G.E. Conference in Orlando, Aug. 8-10. Nominations must be postmarked by May 15, 2012.
