Anchin sponsors Adopt-A-Classroom

New York accounting and consulting firm Anchin, Block & Anchin announced they will be sponsoring Adopt-A-Classroom, supporting the same classroom for a third straight year through contributions of money, resources and time.

The firm will raise money and donate supplies to P.S. 8 Briggs Academy’s fifth grade class, where Anchin partners have previously donated backpacks to about 50 homeless children at the school, and filled those backpacks with supplies through a firm-wide drive.

“Anchin is thrilled to be a part of this organization,” said director of human resources David Finkelstein in a statement. “The idea is to touch students’ lives, to be more involved and not just donate money. We want to make a lasting impression and teach students to enjoy participating in academics and school activities.”

Anchin’s previous donations to Briggs Academy have helped support the building of a new school library, provide basketball jerseys for student-teacher competitions, supply toys at holiday parties, and host academic award ceremonies. The firm also hosts field trips to their offices, invites the teachers to the company holiday party, and helps chaperone school dances.

The students and teachers convey their thanks each year with packages and artwork, writing in a recent note, “We believe this experience has also taught the children the importance of doing good for others when it is within your means.”
