Bearded NJ CPAs host Tax Day shave to support Lymphoma Research

Male members of Bergen County, N.J., accounting firm Traphagen Financial Group observed a 44-year-old tradition in growing beards to be shorn at the close of business today, April 15.

Originating with firm founder Peter Traphagen, the ritual begins Jan. 1, ends with the tax deadline, and is in partnership with the Lymphoma Research Foundation to raise awareness and funding for a cure.

The firm has raised more than $2,400 for the foundation, the nation’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to funding biomedical research on the origins, treatment and identification of a cure for lymphoma, along with raising public awareness and providing support and services to people with lymphoma and their families and caregivers.

The traditional shaving occurred at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the corporate office in Oradell, N.J., and was assisted by Arthur Ferrara, owner of Salon A Hair Studio in Paramus.
