Dixon Hughes Goodman, with firm headquarters located in Charlotte, N.C., recently donated $50,000 in support of theAmericanRed Cross's "Ready 365"campaign in western and upstate North Carolina, according to GoUpstate.com.

Goodman leaders said the gift is an indication of the communal nature at the firm.

"The best thing a business can do for a community, besides providing good jobs, is to support organizations that serve citizens in moments of personal and community crises," said Mike Trammel, managing partner of the Spartanburg office, in a statement.

Ann Wright, executive director of the American Red Cross of the Upstate, said the funds will be used for prevention services – fire safety training and smoke alarms – and the recruitment of volunteers to help prepare for, respond to, and boost recovery during disasters, according to GoUpstate.com.
