Freed Maxick mobilizes NY job program tax with smartphone integration

Freed Maxick & Battaglia launched a mobile initiative today to educate business professionals about the New York State Excelsior Jobs Program, which provides job creation and investment incentives to firms in strategic industries such as financial services, manufacturing and green technology.

As part of this initiative, mobile site www.freedmaxmobile was built for executives to access targeted industry and eligibility information about the program through smartphones. The mobile Web site and expanded information can also be reached by scanning the Quick Response (QR) codes that will be embedded in traditional print and marketing codes with QR-readable phones.

“We simply recognize that times are changing,” said Freed Maxick Marketing Director Eric Majchrzak, “and with technology now, people are getting their information in different ways, and one of them is certainly smartphones.”

On the heels of Tuesday’s announcement that the iPhone will be available to Verizon Network customers next month, Majchrzak said the firm rolled out the initiative to stay competitive, especially as the number of smartphones sold is expected to nearly double this year.

Through the mobile site, users can also connect with Freed Maxick to get further information about services offered to claim these new tax credits via their own mobile device, subscribing to the firm’s tax newsletter or connecting through social media channels Facebook and LinkedIn.

Majchrzak said the firm is also planning to create mobile access around other programs, such as R&D tax credits.

“This is certainly something new and different, and we’re going to test the waters here and see how it goes,” said Majchrzak.

Freed Maxick ranked 88th on Accounting Today’s 2010 list of the Top 100 Firms, with $34.7 million.
