San Francisco’s Golden Gate University announced a new name for its tax program, recognized as the oldest and largest in the nation.
The Bruce F. Braden School of Taxation is named for a GGU alumnus, former instructor and member of the board who has been a business owner and operator in the oil and gas industry for more than 25 years.
“Bruce is a staunch supporter and friend of GGU,” said GGU president Dan Angel, in a statement. “We are delighted with this opportunity to show our deep affection and appreciation for his dedication, support, and leadership. The naming of the School of Taxation translates all of those attributes into an indelible footprint on GGU.”
Accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the university’s School of Taxation teaches practical skills while offering hands-on experience.
Braden received an MBA with a concentration in taxation from GGU in 1974, was a tax instructor from 1978 to 1981 and continues to serve on the university’s board of trustees. He was most recently CEO of small independent Fort Worth, Tex.-based oil and gas company Braden Enterprises.
“I'm a big believer in education and am very excited about Golden Gate University,” Braden stated. “I’m very impressed with everyone that I have met that is involved with the university. GGU ensures our nation’s businesses across industries have access to some of the most well-rounded and versatile tax professionals in the country. We couldn’t run our businesses quite so successfully without them.”
