Maryland firm volunteers time to book bank

Owings Mills, Md.-based CPA and business consulting firm Gorfine, Schiller & Gardyn recently sent volunteers to the International Book Bank warehouse in Baltimore to sort more than 15,000 books in four hours.

The July 27 event was one of GSG’s regular corporate volunteer days.

“At GSG, one of the ways we try to practice good corporate citizenship is through providing ample opportunities for our employees to volunteer,” said officer Barry Bondroff in a statement. “We were delighted to partner with International Book Bank and such a worthwhile cause.”

The International Book Bank, by working with nonprofit literacy programs in the developing world, procures and donates books and other educational materials to children, the ill and the indigent in developing countries.

Past GSG volunteer days have included work with Habitat for Humanity, a Bowl-A-Thon benefiting Junior Achievement, BVU’s Elf Night, and the annual Mudd Volleyball Tournament benefiting the Community Free Clinic in Hagerstown, Md.
