Illinois students drop eggs, knowledge in accounting bout

Southern Illinois University Carbondale hosted 350 students for a day of egg-drop challenges, written tests and team competition last week for its 13th Annual School of Accountancy Accounting Challenge.

Students from 24 area high schools and community colleges turned out Feb. 4 to compete for their schools and themselves, according to The Saluki Times.

Winners of the individual accounting tests received certificates of recognition and scholarships to be used toward a SIUC major in accounting.

Students were also armed with paper, a paper bag and masking tape in a competition to successfully protect an egg from a two-story fall.

Individual scores were then added together by school, with the winning teams taking home trophies.

All contestants also had the opportunity to tour the College of Business and meet the faculty.

A full list of winners is available at the Saluki Times website
