Massachusetts firm has the golden footprint

Woburn, Mass.-based accounting firm DiCicco, Gulman & Co. was granted a 2010 Gold Footprint Award this week from Building Impact, the nonprofit that connects people in Greater Boston-area commercial and residential buildings with local volunteer and charity opportunities.

Recognizing corporate participants in its program that demonstrate volunteerism and giving to local nonprofits, Building Impact also honored three other greater Boston-area companies with the award.

Some of the community service initiatives DiCicco, Gulman & Co. employees participated in this year included a second annual Summer of Service to help nonprofits with accounting, budgeting and best practices. The firm also hosted donation projects that collected items like book bags, baby food and protein for local families in need.

“At Building Impact, we believe that local businesses are an integral part of any community and should be part of the effort to make it a better place,” Executive Director Lisa Guyon told the Woburn Advocate. “Similar to a carbon footprint, we want to show a company’s Community Footprint — the impact they’ve made. We see these footprints as steps toward a community in which everyone is invested in helping their neighbors.”

Building Impact currently services 50 buildings and facilitates the community efforts of more than 500 companies and 18,000 people from within the buildings they work and live.
