Houston accounting firm McConnell & Jones recently received the Energy Future Holdings’ Gold Star Supplier of the Year Award for its exceptional performance, customer satisfaction, community involvement and workforce diversity.

Energy Future Holdings, a Dallas-based, privately held energy company with a portfolio of regulated energy companies, bestowed the award at the Gold Star Recognition Reception Feb. 16 at the Belo Mansion in Dallas.

The Supplier Diversity Gold Star Recognition Program acknowledges individual, group and business contributions to supplier diversity progress and success. Executives from Energy Future Holdings and EFH businesses Luminant and TXU Energy, along with EFH corporate board members, participate in the annual event.

“It is an honor to have received this special award from Energy Future Holdings,” said McConnell & Jones managing partner Wayne McConnell, in a statement. “Our benefit plan compliance team has worked diligently with this client for the last two years—this award is a testament to their exceptional customer service.”

McConnell & Jones performed benefit plan assurance and compliance services for EFH in 2010. The firm also performs attest services for benefit plans and has experts in the areas of audit requirements, compliance changes and regulatory developments.

“The diversity of our team is one of the finest qualities of our firm, one that enhances our ability to work together as a cohesive team, and I’m thrilled to have this trait recognized by Energy Future Holdings,” stated Rance Buss, partner of benefit plan assurance services.
