NetSuite pledges service to A Billion + Change

Cloud-based financials and ERP software suites provider NetSuite announced it has joined the A Billion + Change campaign through its NetSuite.org corporate citizenship program.

NetSuite joins 200 companies and major corporations such as Deloitte, KPMG and IBM in supporting A Billion + Change, a national campaign to mobilize billions of dollars of pro bono and skills-based volunteer services from American corporations to build nonprofit capacity.

NetSuite and some of the campaign’s major corporations—that together pledged an estimated $1.8 billion worth of skills-based services to nonprofits—visited the White House June 27. There, a forum on “A Billion + Change in Action: Connecting to the Future of Corporate Service” hosted leaders in industry, civic engagement and policy who discussed opportunities for businesses to meet today’s social, economic and environmental challenges through skills-based service.

The goal of the campaign is to inspire 500 companies to create or expand a skills-based volunteer program in their workplace by 2013.

“Our challenge now is to expand A Billion + Change while partnering effectively with nonprofit professionals so we can change communities for the better,” said Senator Mark Warner, honorary chairman of A Billion + Change, in a statement. “It’s through collaboration and collective impact that A Billion Plus really does add up to meaningful change.”

NetSuite employees have participated in skills-based volunteer work through the company’s pro-bono program since 2007.

“The cloud is changing the very nature of how all organizations operate, creating a special opportunity for nonprofits to be even more effective,” said David Geilhufe, head of NetSuite.org, in a statement. “To fuel this opportunity, we donate the right to use our product to charities and social enterprises and structure pro bono projects to help these grantee organizations. We are committed to giving back, and believe that we have a role to play in creating social change.”
