The LACPA was founded in 1962 and currently houses 1,750 members. It is the sole nationwide organization representing the accounting profession in Lebanon. Under the new agreements with the AICPA, LACPA members will have access to:
- A variety of online professional education programs, publications and materials designed by the AICPA
- Thought leadership from the AICPA’s Journal of Accountancy, with select articles to be published monthly in LACPA’s publication, The Certified Accountant
- A peer review initiative in the region that will encompass Lebanese, Egyptian and Jordanian CPA firms. As part of this effort, AICPA representatives conducted a peer review training seminar this month in Beirut
“We’re committed to providing professional development opportunities to our members, and our relationship with the AICPA allows us to deepen and expand upon what we already offer,” stated LACPA President Elie Abboud.
The agreements between the AICPA and LACPA were signed in a ceremony earlier this month in Beirut and attended by the Lebanese Minister of Finance and a representative of the World Bank.
