Virginia CPAs set to volunteer for VSCPA's 'Day of Service' during 'CPA Week'

The Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants' (VSCPA) announced this week that hundreds of CPAs and volunteers across Virginia will participate in the Society's CPA Day of Service this upcoming Friday, Sept. 23.

Virginia CPAfirms and individuals across the state will take the day off to volunteer across the communities where professionals live and work. Organizations involved include Maymont Gardens, the Virginia Beach SPCA, Habitat for Humanity, Fauquier Free Clinic, and the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia.

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe recently signed aproclamation recognizingSept. 18–24, 2016, as "Certified Public Accountant Week." The VSCPA hopes that the Week and "Day of Service" will "build awareness of the significant growth and importance of the CPA profession" and the state Society, per a statement.

Founded in 1909, the VSCPA currently houses approximately 12,000 members in public accounting, industry, government and education.
