Deloitte recently announced that their firm was recognized as part ofthe 2016 Civic 50, aPoints of Light initiative that "honors the 50 most community-minded companies in the nation each year as determined by an annual survey," per the organization's website.

This year's Civic 50 winners were announced earlier this week at Points of Light'sConference on Volunteering and Service, heldinDetroit.

"At Deloitte, we have a culture of purpose and are committed to using our knowledge, skills and experience to make a difference in our communities," saidDavid Williams, managing principal of Deloitte LLP, per a statement. "We're honored to be recognized for that as a part of the Civic 50." Williams also chairs Points of Light'sCorporate Service Council, a group consisting of 75 of the world's largest private-sector organizations that support philanthropy in the corporate world.

The 2016 Civic 50 applicants were selected on four criteria: investment, integration, institutionalization and impact. The survey used to select the 2016 Civic 50 was conducted by True Impact, a company specializing in helping organizations maximize and measure their social and business value, and developed in partnership with a high-profile working group of researchers and industry thought leaders.

"Since 2012, we have seen a notable shift in the results from the survey in a direction that speaks to the commitment of American private-sector organizations to connect values of  community service and civic engagement to the culture and operating practices of their business," stated Jennifer Lawson, executive director of the Corporate Institute at Points of Light.

Deloitte's recognition comes just on the heels of its annualImpact Day- a firm-wide day of service that serves the local communities where Deloitte professionals work and live. This year saw the firm spend a collective 189,000 hours volunteering in more than 80 communities across the United States.
