NJSCPA Pays it Forward

Members of the New Jersey Society of CPAs recently traveled to 144 high schools statewide to inform 8,000 students about career opportunities in the profession.

The 350 presentations were part of the NJSCPA’s Pay it Forward campaign to educate students about life on the job at a time when the demand for accounting graduates continues to increase—the U.S. Department of Labor projects a 22 percent growth in the career between 2008 and 2018.

In addition to the Pay it Forward presentations, which include educational videos, facts and an overview of career options in accounting, NJSCPA supports students through New Jersey’s largest professional scholarship fund. This year, the fund awarded more than $425,000 in scholarships to 75 high school and college students pursuing accounting degrees.

More information about Pay it Forward, and a preview of the presentation, is available here.
