PwC teams up with DonorsChoose.org for Summer of Service

PricewaterhouseCooopers will embark on a strategic partnership with DonorsChoose.org, a nonprofit that connects philanthropic individuals with classroom and teacher needs.

PwC is offering $5 gift cards to all 30,000 partners and staff in the United States to be donated to public school teachers. Staff that volunteers for a firm-sponsored project during this year’s sixth annual Summer of Community Service will be granted a $20 donation card.

"We applaud PwC for its commitment to education and service and are thrilled to be collaborating with them," said Charles Best, founder and CEO of DonorsChoose.org, in a statement. "Youth education is one the nation's foremost priorities, and through commitments like this we are helping provide teachers and students with the tools and resources they need in the classroom."

During last year’s Summer of Service, PwC employees volunteered more than 53,000 hours that impacted more than 70,000 children through activities like math and financial literacy tutoring and refurbishing schools and parks, and raised $145,000.

"As one of the country's largest professional services firms, PwC has a vested interest in helping develop our future leaders and giving back to the communities where our people live and work," said Shannon Schuyler, PwC’s corporate responsibility leader, in a statement. "We see great alignment between DonorsChoose.org and our firm's commitment to positively impact youth education and help underserved classrooms across the country."

Outside of the unlimited time available for firm-sponsored volunteering projects, PwC provides 10 hours of paid time off for staff to pursue their own volunteering opportunities.
